1.  Installation

IMPORTANT NOTE: The program needs the Microsoft Net Framework to work. So please ensure you to have at least the version 2.0 of the Net Framework installed in your PC. You can download the Net Framework from this link.

IMPORTANT NOTE: For the right use of the Switcher please ensure that you have the game executable in the FIFA 09 folder called as "fifa09.exe".

To install the Switcher Evo 09 just follow the video instructions and wait for the end of operations. At the end of the installation a DOS black window will run for some seconds. It has to install in your FIFA 09 some files needed by the cinematics used in the UCL and UEFA version of the switcher. Those files don't overwrite any of your files, so your fifa will be still online compatible and without any loss of your files. When the DOS black window closes itself, a prompt window will ask you if you want to start the program. That's the end of the installation.

NOTE: The whole Switcher Evo 09 is made to switch only graphic files, so it should be also online compatible. Surely it is made to restore every file you had before starting the Switcher Evo. So using the program you will not loose anything of your edits!

For Vista users: if you have problem running the Switcher or using it, try to re-install it in a different location outside Program Files folder that is ultra-protected by your OS. Maybe a good idea could be to install it in a folder in the Desktop or in your Documents. There are also other things you should do before starting the switcher:
- give all the administration rights (to read and write) to the FIFA 09 folder
- if needed, give all the administration rights to the Switcher Program
- if needed, give all the administration rights to the Switcher Installation folder
- if you see that not all files are switched properly, please delete all the files you find in the temporary folder of the game that should be an hidden folder here:
C:\Users\"User Name"\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\EA Sports\FIFA 09\data

For Vista 64bit users: This program is known not to work with Windows Vista 64 bit. Sorry for this...

2. How to use - Short Guide

This is a short guide that wants to introduce you to the basic function of this Switcher in a fast and less detailed way. If you need more info please refer to the Detailed Guide here below.

Switching buttons: these are the buttons you have to use ingame to switch graphics...                                     Read more here
Auto (career mode): use this function if you want that the program switch the graphics according to your next match in manager mode. Please remember that this function disable the Switching Buttons.                                                                                                          Read more here
Skip Rebuilding: tick this label if you want that the program keeps using the same files that where used the last time. This, of course, has not to be ticked when you have added an add-on or for other circumstances that will be explain below.                                                  Read more here
Launch: use this function to launch the FIFA 09 game.                                                                                   Read more here
Other options: see the screen below:

The functions written in the image are self-explaining. The two functions about the UCL and UEFA folder opening are very useful when you need to insert new add-ons. The add-ons installation will be explained later...

3. How to use - Detailed Guide

Let's see in a detailed way some of the functions that have already been quickly descripted here above.

Switching buttons: These are the buttons that you have to press ingame to switch the graphics. Please keep the button you want for the switch pressed for at least 2 seconds in order that the program can understand you want to switch the graphics. The switching process may take some seconds (the amount of time is due to your PC configuration) and will end only when you hear a sound similar to the sound used by Windows for not-critical warnings. The program switches the ingame match files before and only then the menu files. For this reason you could see still some old graphics while you skip from a menu to another. We could have done the contrary (menu files before, match files after), but, in this way, we are sure that if you start very quickly the game, the ingame files are already in their position and there are no loading crashes. For this reason we always recommend to press the switch buttons some screens before the loading match screen.

The switching buttons to use are:
F7: press this button if you want to switch to Uefa Cup graphics
F9: press this button if you want to switch to Uefa Champions League graphics
F8: press this button if you want to switch to your previous graphics. This button is made on the purpose to use it after having used F7 or F9.

During the start of the match, if you are using Uefa or UCL configuration, you should hear the hymn of the competitions playing in the background. For more info about which files are originally switched by the program, please refer to the next paragraph.

Auto (career mode): If you tick this option, the program will disable the Switching buttons and will switch the graphic files only in any career mode you load in the game. Indeed, the program is able to recognise the next match you will play and switch the graphics accordingly. The recognition takes place in the moment when the game makes the "career loading" bar after the match (see image below).

This means that, for example, if you have just played a Premier League match and then you have to play a Champions League match, the program will change your graphics into the Champions League ones. When you have finished the match, if your next match is a Premier League one, the program will switch graphics back to yours.

Please note that, as already written above, the switching process takes some time, so you could see some screens without UCL or Uefa backgrounds. Moreover please note that if you exit from the career after the switch has been done but before restoring the old switch, all the graphics will remain of the last new switch. If you, for example, exit the career because you cannot play the Champions League match for some reason, you will see the menu and the other graphics of Champions League match. If you want that the graphics come back to original you have just to re-load a career where the first match is a Premier League one.

*** We, without much modesty, consider this function one of the best inventions of the Fifa editing: something that surely has never been made before. We hope you will enjoy it, like we did when we invented it. ***

Skip rebuilding: This is a very important function that, if used properly, saves a lot of time. This function will not be available the first time you run the Switcher, but it will become available from the second. This function allows you not to make the program rebuild all the files every time you click on "Launch". Before explaining you what this means, it's better to explain what the "files building" consists of.

When the program build the files, in fact, it simply creates some folders and especially 3 zdata.big. These 3 zdata are created based on the files the program finds in the 2 already said folders "UCL" and "UEFA". The third zdata is the zdata that uses your files, used for the "normal" configuration. The Switcher uses a switching system that allows you not to make the fifa.fat heavier, but still using zdatas and not external files that make the game less performing. Moreover the program checks that every file there is in "UCL" and "UEFA" folder has a respective file in your zdata. If this is not the case, it does not insert that file in any of the 3 zdatas. This rule is a bit different only for some native files. But the important thing to remember is that the normal zdata is made using your files and specifically, if you have duplicated files in different zdatas, it takes the last zdata file, that is also the one usually read by the game.

So coming back to our function, when do we need to untick the function? You have to untick the function if you have added some files in the "UCL" or "UEFA" folder or if you have changed (replace) some files in your FIFA. Let's make an example. The Switcher has a Barcellona UCL Kit in the "UCL" folder. This means that the program, in the files building, has taken your Barcellona Kit (in your zdata) and has put it in the normal zdata. Now you have to untick the "Skip rebuilding" option if you have edited the Barcellona Kit for Champions League and you have put a new .fsh file in the "UCL" folder and you want that the Switcher takes this new kit for its UCL configuration. Otherwise it will use the old one! And you have also to untick the "Skip rebuilding" function if, for any reason, you have changed a kit or graphic files in your FIFA. Indeed the program is able to recognise if you have added files in your FIFA and, this time, it simply generate without giving you the possibility to tick/untick the option. However it is not able to recognise if you have changed a file, for example you have substituted a logo or a kit. But if you don't untick "Skip rebuilding" it is very probable that the game crashes loading the match, because it find a different file from the time the fat was generated. These are the 2 situations where you need to untick that option.

Launch: Click on this button when you have done everything and you are ready to play. The first time you use the Switcher this button will launch immediately the game after an intro video. The other times instead this button will launch the rebuilding if you have untick the "Skip rebuilding" option and only then the game. If you have the "Skip rebuilding" option ticked, it will start the intro video and then the game immediately.

Meanwhile you can add .fsh or other files to the Switcher simply inserting them in the "UCL" or "UEFA" folders that can be opened also through the program itself as shown above.

Download latest add-ons from the Switcher Evo 09 Homepage.

6. Known issues and bugs

Some of them have been already written in the previous paragraphs but they are all sum-up here:
